Mayor Dennis P. Williams joined the cast of Annie from the Delaware Children’s Theatre to visit the William "Hicks" Anderson Community Center (WHACC), and present children with tickets to attend the theatre’s production of Annie this weekend.
The students of WHACC guided Mayor Williams and both “Annies” along on a tour of the community center. The group visited the center’s library, game room, gymnasium and pool.
“I truly appreciate these young ladies and the Delaware Children’s Theatre for donating tickets to the William Hicks Anderson Community Center, so children may attend their production of Annie. This provides a great opportunity for young people in the City to be exposed to the arts, culture and performance,” said Mayor Williams. “The support from the Delaware Children’s Theatre closely aligns with the City’s RISE Wilmington campaign, and how we are always looking for new, creative ways to make our City clean, safe and smart while broadening the horizons of our young people.”
During the visit, both Annies performed “Tomorrow” and “It’s A Hard Knock Life,” two notable songs from the legendary Broadway musical. Mayor Williams also presented both actresses with gifts in an effort to commend their generosity.
Delaware Children’s Theatre final showings of Annie will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 and Sunday, November 3, 2013. For more information or to purchase tickets please visit: www.dechildrenstheatre.org.
