Today, Mayor Dennis P. Williams and the Office of Constituent Services thanked Chris Peluso, the Area Manager of CH2M HILL, and his colleagues for providing and helping distribute bicycles to 40 disadvantaged youth in the City of Wilmington in time for the Holiday season.

CH2M HILL, a company that provides engineering design, construction, and operations consulting services to Wilmington and other governments around the world, purchased all of the bikes to distribute to nonprofit agencies and children in Wilmington. The Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services assists CH2M HILL by working with numerous community and neighborhood centers and agencies to identify families who would most benefit from the holiday bicycle giveaway.

“We are pleased to be able to brighten the holidays for some deserving children in the City of Wilmington,” said Chris Peluso, CH2M HILL Area Manager. “CH2M HILL’s corporate culture centers on meaningful involvement in the communities in which our employees live and work. We are grateful to Mayor Williams and City Council for providing us the opportunity to fulfill this important mission.”

This is the eighth consecutive year CH2M HILL has donated bicycles to children in Wilmington, which increases the total number of bicycles distributed to local youths over the years to 395. CH2M HILL staff members organize and participate in Bikes for Kids fundraising events throughout the year, and even help assemble the bikes prior to distribution. Representatives from CH2M HILL, the City, and community agencies will present the bikes to families in the City within the next few days, just in time for holiday celebrations.

“Generosity, especially during the holiday season, is something we should all try to practice. For the last eight years, CH2M HILL continues to demonstrate this spirit of generosity by giving back to our community, and working to bring happiness to the people of Wilmington. Around the holiday season, for many families, resources can become strained, so CH2M HILL’s efforts are graciously appreciated,” said Mayor Williams.
