Wilmington Police Department Accepting Applications for the 96th Police Academy

The Wilmington Police Department has opened the application process for the 96th Police Academy. The application period is open through Thursday, July 3, 2014. Applications will be accepted until the close of business (5:00 p.m. EDT).
The minimum qualifications to apply to the 96th Wilmington Police Academy are:
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
- Applicants must be a U.S. citizen.
- Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Military applicants must provide a copy of their DD Form 214 showing an honorable discharge.
Applicants must also undergo and pass a variety of tests and interviews that are required for the position of police officer. The review process includes a physical ability test, standardized written test, staff interview, medical and psychological evaluation, polygraph examinations, and a drug screening.
The Police Department will also host a Career Day on Saturday, June 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where interested applicants may apply for the department’s 96th Police Academy. The Career Day will be held in the multipurpose room at the William T. McLaughlin Public Safety Building, 300 North Walnut Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19801.
