Today, Mayor Dennis P. Williams, Councilwoman Hanifa Shabazz (D-4th District) and Reverend Terrance Keeling, a member of the Eastside Blueprint Collaborative, toured from New Castle Avenue to 9th Street and discussed potential development projects focused on the Eastside of Wilmington.

On November 10 community organizations came together and signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which created an Eastside Collaborative focused on restoring prosperity to neighborhoods and communities bounded by 4th Street to 11th Street and Church Street to Walnut Street.

“As we look to create opportunities for workforce training, economic development and housing stabilization, it is important for us to work together,” said Mayor Williams. “The Eastside Collaborative is a great example of organizations within a community working together to achieve common goals and help uplift a community.”

Eastside Blueprint is a planning team that was started in 2009 under the Federal Home Loan Banks Blueprint Community Program. The mission of the Blueprint Program is to unite citizens, public and private stakeholders, and community activists to revitalize communities by increasing home ownership, human services, public safety, entrepreneurship, and education to create a better place to live, learn, worship and work.
