Seatbelt Violation Leads to Firearm Arrest

A vehicle stop stemming from a seatbelt violation resulted in the arrest of a 31 year old Wilmington man for carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of marijuana.
Officers Matthew Rosaio and Antonio Tiberi were on patrol in the area of the 2800 block of North Washington Street when they observed a white Toyota Avalon with an unrestrained operator. The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and immediately detected the odor of marijuana. The officers then observed a rolled marijuana cigarette in the lap of the vehicle’s front passenger, Royal Conquest.
The officers took Conquest into custody and located a loaded, concealed .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his pocket.
Conquest arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and released after posting a $6,000 secured bond.
