City of Wilmington Economic Development Director Harold Gray, the store manager of Jerry’s Artarama, Fridam Ali, and the Dean of Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD), Stuart Baron, joined together to cut the ribbon in celebration of the Grand Opening of Jerry’s Artarama, a fine art supply retail store, located in Downtown Wilmington.
Jerry’s Artarama, based in Raleigh N.C. and founded in 1968, is recognized as the leading online discount art supplier in the United States. With 16 stores in 10 states, many of the Jerry’s Artarama stores are located near college campuses. The Jerry’s Artarama in Downtown Wilmington is no different, as it is located less than a block away from DCAD and will serve as the official supplier for DCAD students.
“The City looks to continue to support the growth and development of Downtown Wilmington,” said Mayor Dennis P. Williams. “New businesses like Jerry’s Artarama and La Fia will add to the vibrancy continuing to grown in Downtown Wilmington, and hopefully attract new customers to the area.”
During the Grand Opening, attendees and customers enjoyed a 20 to 30 percent off discount on various art supplies throughout the store. The fine arts supply store will officially become a part of the Downtown community as it will become a presenter on the Wilmington Art Loop.
Council President Theo Gregory was also on hand to celebrate the official opening of Jerry’s Artarama.
