Juvenile Arrested with Handgun

Police arrested a 17 year old juvenile for illegally possessing a firearm.
Friday morning at approximately 10:31 a.m., Corporal Lorne Peterson responded to the area of 20th and North West Streets in reference to a drug complaint. Upon arrival, Corporal Peterson along with assisting Officers Timothy O’Connor and Officer Kevin Lubek were unable to locate anyone who matched the description provided by 911 dispatchers. The officers began walking through the 200 block of West 20th Street when Corporal Peterson observed the 17 year old juvenile standing in the block holding what appeared to be a handgun. When they approached the juvenile he began to turn his body away from the officers in an attempt to conceal the weapon. Corporal O’Connor observed the juvenile place a .32 caliber revolver inside of his pocket.
The juvenile was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile’s arraignment information is unavailable.
