Police Find Loaded Assault Rifle on City Street

Photo of assault rifle found by WPDPolice are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying suspects after an alert police officer found a loaded assault rifle on a city street.

On Saturday, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Officer Jesus Caez was patrolling in the 200 block of East 24th Street when he observed a group of suspects behaving suspiciously next to a parked pickup truck. The suspects quickly departed the block when they observed the officer’s patrol vehicle. The officer then exited his vehicle and began to patrol the area on foot to look for further suspicious activity. Beneath the pickup truck the officer located an assault rifle with an attached loaded magazine. Additional officers searched the surrounding blocks but were unable to locate the suspects.

The suspects are described as four Black males between 15 and 17 years old, wearing all dark clothing.
