Convicted Felon Arrested with a Shotgun

A convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm was charged with possessing a shotgun after officers responded to his residence for 911 calls reporting shots fired.
Early Saturday morning, at approximately 1: 00 a.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of North Tatnall Street after receiving 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area. Arriving officers located numerous shell casings in the street and observed that a residence in the block had been struck by gunfire. Further investigation revealed that the front door to the residence was open and officers entered to search for possible victims. Inside the residence officers encountered Nakia Miller, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. Miller was unharmed, but officers discovered a loaded 20 gauge shotgun and several boxes of assorted ammunition.
Miller was taken into custody and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
Police continue to investigate the shooting incident.
