Community Tip Leads to Drug Arrest

- Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine
A tip from concerned citizens helped direct officers to a drug dealer conducting street level drug sales in West Center City Wilmington.
Corporal Kevin Murphy and Officer Justin Wilkers were on patrol when they received information from the community about a subject engaged in drug sales in the 800 block of Morrow Street. The officers then observed Davon Avant-Crosby, who matched the provided description, standing in the block. The officers spoke with Avant-Crosby who began turning his body away from the officers in an apparent attempt to conceal something. The officers conducted a pat down of Avant-Crosby and discovered a plastic bag containing 5.6 grams of crack cocaine in his pocket.
Further investigation also revealed that Avant-Crosby had two existing capiases for his arrest.
Avant-Crosby was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and released after posting $5,000 cash bail.
