On November 4, at approximately 11:43 a.m., Corporal Marc Satterfield and Officer Jose Vasquez attempted to stop a group of subjects loitering on the steps of a residence in the 100 block of South Van Buren Street. Tayqwane Wallace fled from the officers on foot and attempted to discard a firearm by throwing it onto a roof. The officers took Wallace into custody after several blocks and found 55 bags of heroin and a small amount of marijuana on him.

Members of the community quickly came forward and assisted officers in locating the roof where the suspect threw the firearm. Officers soon located a loaded 9mm handgun on the roof of a nearby residence. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was reported stolen.

Wallace was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $36,000 secured bond.
