Robbery Suspect Arrested After Chase

Photo of Branden MoorePolice tracked and apprehended an 18 year old Wilmington man after he committed an armed robbery on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. as two 23-year-old victims were walking north in the 1300 block of North Clayton Street. Branden Moore emerged from behind a tree and produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. Moore then pinned one of the victims against a vehicle and pistol whipped her.

Witnesses ran to assist the women and called the police as Moore fled on a bicycle. Responding officers from the Uniformed Services Division “E” Platoon conducted an area search and located Moore riding his bicycle in the area of South Park Drive and North Adams Street. Moore dismounted the bicycle and fled from officers on foot. Officers established a perimeter and located Moore hiding in a rear yard in the 900 block of Wawaset Street.

Branden Moore, a convicted felon with a prior robbery conviction, was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $125,000 cash bail.
