Juvenile Robbery Suspect Arrested

Police apprehended a 14 year old Wilmington juvenile after he robbed a 69 year old male at gunpoint.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 29, at approximately 3:20 p.m., as the 69 year old victim was standing in front of his residence in the 1300 block of Woodlawn Avenue. Three juvenile Black males approached the victim and asked for the time. The 14 year old defendant then displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s property; the victim complied and the suspects fled on foot.

Master Corporal David Simmons observed the three suspects in the area of West 8th Street and Woodlawn Avenue and attempted to stop them. The suspects fled in different directions and Simmons pursued the 14 year old defendant onto the railroad tracks, taking him into custody with the assistance of other officers.

Police recovered the victim’s property and are working to identify the other two suspects.

The juvenile was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $12,000 secured bail.
