Police Investigate a Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting after two females were struck during an exchange of gunfire between unknown suspects.

Officers responded to the 600 block of West 6th Street at approximately 9:57 p.m. Monday after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting. Arriving officers located a 47 year old female with a gunshot wound to the buttocks, and a 29 year old female with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Preliminary investigation suggests the victims were seated on the porch of a residence in the block when two unknown suspects began exchanging gunfire. The victims were caught in the crossfire and sustained gunshot wounds. One of the suspects is described as a Black male wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt. He entered a silver two-door sedan and fled the scene. The victims were transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance and are listed in stable condition.
