Convicted Felon Arrested with Firearm

Roderick Owens, 28, 700 block Jefferson Street, Wilmington, Delaware
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Two Separate Violent Felonies
- Resisting Arrest
Police working a targeted patrol along the North Market Street corridor arrested a convicted felon with a handgun Thursday evening.
The incident occurred on December 5, at approximately 6:35 p.m., as Detectives Michael Coleman and Thomas Lynch observed Roderick Owens loitering in the100 block of East 24th Street. Owens also appeared to be concealing a firearm in his waistband.
When the officers attempted to stop Owens he fled on foot. Assisting officers took Owens into custody after several blocks and recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun. Owens is prohibited from possessing a handgun due to multiple prior violent felony drug convictions.
Owens was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $31,000 cash bail.
