Police Investigate Attempted Robbery of Papa's Food Market

Victim:

  • 27 year old female of Wilmington, Delaware

Suspect:

  • Black male, 5 feet to 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 to 150 pounds, small build, wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt with bleach stains

Summary:

Police are investigating an attempted robbery after an unknown suspect displayed a demand note and implied that he was armed with a gun.

The initial investigation suggests that at approximately 12:40 p.m. the suspect entered Papa’s Food Market at 1910 West 6th Street and asked the 27 year old female clerk if he could use the phone. The suspect then wrote a demand note and told the victim that he was armed with a gun. The victim refused to turn over the cash and asked the suspect to prove he was armed. The suspect then fled the store without any proceeds.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 5 feet to 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 to 150 pounds, small build, wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt with bleach stains.
