Prohibited Felon Arrested with Handgun

A convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm was arrested with a handgun after fleeing from officers early Saturday morning.

Officer Gaetan MacNamara was on proactive patrol when he observed Steffone Ross-Miller, 18, engaged in suspicious activity in the 300 block of North Rodney Street. Ross-Miller fled on foot when the officer attempted to make contact with him. Ross-Miller attempted to discard a loaded .380 caliber handgun but was tackled by the officer in the 300 block of Delamore Place. Ross-Miller was taken into custody and found to be in violation of a court order prohibiting him from the area. Additional investigation revealed that Ross-Miller is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Steffone Ross-Miller was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $21,000 cash bail.
