Officers Catch Suspects Sharing a Firearm

Summary:

Police arrested two suspects armed with a handgun after they unwittingly exchanged possession of the firearm in front of patrolling officers.

Officers William Ball and Devon Jones were on patrol in the 2200 block of Tatnall Street when they observed Therion Reese and Joshua Tyler engaging in suspicious activity in the block. Reese removed a handgun from his waistband and handed it to Tyler who concealed it in his own waistband. The officers contacted both suspects and took them into custody after a brief struggle. The officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. This incident occurred within a school safe zone surrounding Kingswood Academy in the 2200 block of North Market Street.

Therion Reese, a convicted felon, was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $6,000 cash bail. Joshua Tyler, who was a minor at the time of his arrest and monitored by Juvenile Probation, was released after posting $6,000 secured bond.
