Downtown Deployment Officers Arrest One in Strong Arm Robbery

Officers assigned to the downtown business district as part of Mayor Williams’ Downtown Deployment took one suspect into custody following a strong arm robbery on the Riverwalk.
The incident occurred on February 25, at approximately 6:45 p.m., as a 29 year old male victim was walking along the Riverwalk in the 500 block of South Justison Street talking on his cell phone. Two suspects approached from behind, pushed the victim to the ground and took his cell phone. Senior Corporal Marc Satterfield, assigned to the downtown business district, quickly located a subject matching the suspect description and took him into custody in the 500 block of South Justison Street. This suspect, identified as Jamel Jackson, 26, was in possession of the victim’s cell phone.
Officers continue to search for a second suspect described as a Black male, 28 to 32 years old, wearing a blue-hooded sweatshirt with a New York Yankees emblem, blue jeans, and grey sneakers.
Jamel Jackson was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $8,000 cash bail.
