Police Seeks the Public's Assistance with Identifying the Suspect Involved in a Purse Snatching

Date of Occurrence:

  • Saturday, January 26, 2013, approximately 8:05 p.m.

Victim:

  • Black Female, 20, of New Castle, Delaware

Suspect:

  • Light skin complexion black male, wearing a black knit cap, black shirt, and black jeans

Summary:

Officers responded to the Shoprite Supermarket, which is located at 501 South Market Street, in reference to a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the suspect fled prior to their arrival. The investigation revealed that as the victim exited the supermarket, the suspect jumped out of a tan-colored vehicle, snatched her purse, re-entered the vehicle, and fled southbound on South Market Street. The suspect was described as a light skin complexion black male, wearing a black knit cap, black shirt, and black jeans.

Officers were unable to locate the vehicle during an area canvass.

The investigation is ongoing.
