Wilmington Police Re-Arrest Repeat Burglar

Summary:

Officers arrested Christopher Brown after receiving a 911 phone call reporting a burglary in progress in the 1000 block of North Broom Street.

Corporal Daniel Vignola and Officer Brian McCanney responded to the block and received a description of a suspect last seen traveling eastbound on West 11th Street. The officers observed Christopher Brown, who matched the suspect description, and ordered him to stop. Brown fled from officers and was apprehended after a foot pursuit.

An investigation determined that the victim had returned home to find his back door kicked in, and Christopher Brown in his home. Brown removed several items from the residence and then fled through the backyard. The victim contacted police and Brown was apprehended several blocks away.

Brown was arraigned yesterday and committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
According to the judicial information center Brown was arrested for burglary on December 28, 2012. He was released on a $5,500 secured bail on January 15, 2013.
