Gun Squad Unit Make Gun Arrest after Foot Chase

S1- Lamar Taylor, 24, Black male, 2200 block North Washington Street, Wilmington, Delaware
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Resisting Arrest
S2 - Darron Perkins, 23, Black male, 300 block Blue Heron Court, Middletown Delaware
- Possession of Marijuana (26 grams)
- Improper Tail Lights
- Failure to Signal
Members of the Wilmington’s Gun Squad Unit conducted a vehicle stop on a white Chevy Malibu on the 1600 block of North Claymont Street. As the Chevy Malibu came to a stop, the front passenger, Lamar Taylor, exited the vehicle and fled on foot while the driver, Darron Perkins, remained inside of the vehicle. After a brief foot chase, Taylor was taken into custody and officers located a semi-automatic handgun. Further investigation revealed that the semi-automatic handgun was stolen and Taylor had three outstanding warrants.
The Gun Squad Unit executed a search warrant on the Chevy Malibu and located 26 grams of marijuana.
Taylor, who is a convicted drug offender and a person prohibited, was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional facility in lieu of a $56,000.00 cash bail.
Perkins was released after posting a $1,000 unsecured bond.
