National NAACP President Benjamin Jealous Held Press Conference In the Office of Mayor Williams to Support House Bill No. 10

National President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Benjamin T. Jealous, hosted a press conference today, March 5, 2013, in the office of Mayor Dennis P. Williams to support House Bill No. 10.

House Bill No. 10, recognized as the Hazel D. Plant Act, is the second leg of a Constitutional Amendment which eliminates the existing five-year waiting period before eligible felons who have fully discharged their sentences may have their voting rights restored. 

This visit will mark the first time President Jealous of the NAACP makes the trip to Wilmington, Delaware.

Press conference was attended by Richard “Mouse” Smith, President of the NAACP Delaware State Conference, NCC President Tom Gordon, and Members of the Delaware State Legislature; including Representative Helene M. Keeley, Representative Gerald Brady, Representative Charles Potter and Senator Margaret Rose Henry.
