Summary:

Police arrested a probationer after he was found in possession of a stolen firearm.

Early Friday morning at approximately 12:44 a.m., Officers Matthew Rosaio and Antonio Tiberi were proactively patrolling the 200 block of West 21st Street when they heard a vehicle repeatedly honking its horn. The officers then observed a vehicle leave from the 2100 block of North West Street. The officer responded to the area and observed a black Ford Taurus parked in the middle of the block with the lights out and engine running. Due to the poor lighting on the block, the officers illuminated the vehicle with its spotlight and observed four subjects slouched in their seats attempting to avoid being seen by the officers. The officers approached the vehicle in an attempt to determine the occupants business abroad. While Officer Rosaio spoke to the occupants and Officer Tiberi conducted a registration inquiry, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside of the vehicle. The inquiry revealed that the vehicles registration was expired. Further investigation revealed that Aaron Nickerson, who was the operator of the vehicle, was on probation and had a suspended license.

Safe Street detectives and Probation responded to the scene and took Nickerson into custody without incident. The remaining occupants, Johnson, Harris, and the 17 year old juvenile female were removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. An administrative search was conducted on the vehicle and officers located a .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun. While checking Harris officers located 2 grams of marijuana.

Further investigation revealed that the .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun was stolen.

Nickerson, who is a person prohibited and a convicted felon, was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $45,000.00 cash bond.

Johnson, who is a person prohibited and a convicted felon, was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $45,500.00 cash bond.

Harris, a person prohibited and a convicted drug offender, was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $45000.00 cash bond.

The 17 year old juvenile was committed to a juvenile facility.
