Wanted Probationer Arrested with Heroin After Foot Chase

Members of the Drug Organized Crime Vice unit arrested a wanted probationer after a foot chase.
On March 12, at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Drug Organize Crime Vice unit executed a J.P. Court #20 search warrant at a residence on the 900 block of Kirkwood Street. Prior to entering the residence, an assisting K9 Officer observed the target, Morris D. Rollins, walking on the 900 block of Kirkwood Street. The officer ordered Rollins to stop, at which time he fled on foot into his residence, through the front door, and exited through the rear. Officers pursued Rollins as he entered a vacant property on North Spruce Street. Rollins entered through the rear door and exited through the front door where he was taken into custody without further incident. Rollins, who is a convicted felon and drug offender, was found in possession of 13 bags of heroin. The heroin is valued at $130.00.
During the search of the residence on the 900 block of Kirkwood Street, Vice Detectives located and seized drug paraphernalia.
Morris D. Rollins, who had several outstanding warrants, was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $26,000.00 cash bail.
