Police Investigate Accident

Summary:

Police are investigating an accident between an unmarked Wilmington Police vehicle and a red colored Oldsmobile at 20th and North Market Streets.

Friday afternoon at 12:20 p.m., an unmarked police vehicle was traveling southbound on North Market Street when it collided with a red colored Oldsmobile. The investigation indicates that the unmarked police vehicle was traveling southbound on the 2000 block of North Market Street approaching the intersection of 20th and Market Streets. The red Oldsmobile was traveling northbound on North Market Street and failed to yield to the southbound traffic as he attempted to make a left turn onto West 20th Street. Subsequently, the Oldsmobile was struck by the unmarked police vehicle at the intersection of 20th and North Market Streets.

Traffic was temporarily detoured while police conducted the investigation. The unmarked police vehicle was occupied by a single officer. The red Oldsmobile was occupied by two subjects. The two Oldsmobile occupants were transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance. The officer was transported to Wilmington Hospital by ambulance. All occupants’ identities are being withheld for investigative purposes.
