Police Investigate Supermarket Robbery

  • White male, of Wilmington, Delaware

Suspect(s) Description:

  • Black male, medium brown complexion, partially bald, full beard, and muscular

Summary:

On Wednesday June 12 at approximately 6:27 p.m., uniformed officers responded to the ShopRite Supermarket (501 South Market Street) in reference to a late report of a robbery.

Officers arrived and spoke to a ShopRite employee regarding the incident. The investigation revealed that the suspect was observed removing merchandise off of the store shelves placing it into his backpack. As the suspect approached the exit he was confronted by security which led to a physical altercation. As a result, the security guard sustained a laceration to his face and an injured ankle. The suspect fled from the supermarket leaving behind the backpack and the store merchandise.

The suspect was described as a black male, muscular build, medium brown complexion, partially bald, and a full beard.
