Burglar Caught in Front Yard

  • Samuel Copeland, Black male, 19, of the 100 block of North Broom Street, Wilmington, Delaware
    • Attempted Burglary 2nd

Summary:

Corporals Scott Burris and Sarah Peffer arrested Samuel Copeland after he attempted to burglarize a residence in the 400 block of Geddes Street.

On Wednesday, June 12 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Corporal Scott Burris and Corporal Sarah Peffer responded to the 400 block of Geddes Street in reference to a 911 call for a burglary in progress. Prior to their arrival, dispatchers informed officers that Copeland was attempting to gain entry through the front door and added a detailed description. As officer’s arrived, they observed Copeland standing in the front yard of the residence in which he attempted to burglarize. Copeland was taken into custody on scene without incident.

Copeland was committed to Sussex Community Correctional Center in lieu of an $5,000 unsecured bond.
