Summary:

The ongoing partnership between the Wilmington Department of Police and Downtown Visions produced another success story last night as two robbery suspects were arrested shortly after committing their crime.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. Sunday evening when the victim was walking in the 300 block of West 10th Street. He observed defendants Earnest Lewis and Antwon Moore following him and began to run from them. The defendants caught up with the victim in the 200 block of West 10th Street, and punched him in the face while demanding he give up property. The victim sustained lacerations to the face but managed to break free from his attackers who then fled out of sight. The victim immediately contacted police.

A short time later Corporal Richard Press and Officer Brian McCanney observed Lewis and Moore, who matched suspect descriptions, walking in the area of West 9th and North Madison Streets. Lewis and Moore fled on foot when the officers attempted to stop them. After a foot chase Lewis was taken into custody.

Moore initially avoided capture but attentive Downtown Visions employees spotted him on downtown surveillance cameras and notified officers. Moore was taken into custody without further incident.

Earnest Lewis was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $35,500 cash bail.

Antwon Moore was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $35,500 secured bond.
