Christmas Tree Recycling
The Department of Public Works (DPW) encourages City residents to recycle their live (not artificial) Christmas trees.
The goal of the DPW is to recycle as many Christmas trees as possible to avoid taking them to the landfill for disposal. They grind the trees and the wood chips are used by the City during the spring season as cover for city parks and other properties. Wood chips also are used by the City to cover vacant properties that have become eyesores because of overgrown grass and weeds. Wood chips retard the growth of grass and weeds and thus prevent properties from becoming further overgrown and unsightly.
If you have any questions about the Christmas tree recycling program or any DPW project, please call the Public Works Call Center at (302) 576-3878.
