Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP) Not Accepting Applications
The City of Wilmington has stopped accepting applications for its popular Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP). The program, which began in July of 2011, provides up to $10,000 to prospective homebuyers for the acquisition of a vacant property in the 19801, 19802, or 19805 zip codes.
Applications are no longer being accepted because all available funds have already been allocated to applicants. To date, the City has distributed over $277,000 in funds to 33 homebuyers; an additional 9 homebuyers are expected to receive funds when they close on their properties by the end of January.
