The City of Wilmington joins Wheels for Wishes and encourages the citizens of Wilmington to donate their old or used cars in order to support the Make A Wish Foundation Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic was founded in 1983, and has granted the wishes of more than 7,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions such as cancer, pediatric AIDS, cystic fibrosis, Duchene’s muscular dystrophy and heart disease. Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic serves children living in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Wheels for Wishes is one of many outreach efforts to help raise funds for our local children.
“Wheels for Wishes creates an opportunity for people in the community to help grant the wishes of local children living with life-threatening medical conditions,” said Mayor Dennis P. Williams. “Through something as simple as donating a car, we have the power to make a difference and actually impact a child’s life forever.”
Wheels for Wishes accepts most vehicles, inclduing: boats, cars, trucks, vans, fleet vehicles, trailers, RVs, SUVs and motorcycles. Even cars with missing titles can be accepted. The program coordinators will complete all of the necessary paperwork, such as: the title transfer and documents necessary to receive a charitable tax deduction. Wheels for Wishes also offers free pick up and towing services for all donations.
