The Wilmington Police Department joined Christiana Care Health System and other notable nonprofit agencies to present the 11th Annual Domestic Violence Prevention Forum at the Downtown Wilmington branch of Delaware Technical & Community College.

The free forum featured live theater through interactive skits performed by ArtFusion, and also facilitated open discussion about sexuality and intimate partner violence. The event also included exhibitors, presenting helpful information addressing issues relating to domestic violence and available community resources. Sponsored by Christiana Care Health System, the Domestic Violence Prevention Forum was supported by the Wilmington Police Department, which offers a variety of programs to address issues of domestic violence within the community.

The Wilmington Police Department combats the harmful effects of domestic violence through the Child Development – Community Policing (CDCP) Program—an innovative partnership between the City of Wilmington Police Department and the Delaware Division of Prevention and Behavioral Heal Service (DPBHS). Established in 2005, the CDCP Program provides free, voluntary trauma assessment and short-term counseling services to children and their families after a traumatic event. The goal of the CDCP Program is to help heal the wounds that exposure to violence inflicts on children and families. For more information, visit www.WilmingtonDE.gov/government/cdcp
