Mayor Dennis P. Williams and the City of Wilmington will implement a citywide internship program for undergraduate, graduate, technical or trade students throughout the City.

The scope of candidates looking to apply for the Mayor’s internship program will range from a wide spectrum of students. The students chosen will work within departments and assist with day-to-day operations. They will also be exposed to other aspects of City government and participate in events sure to enhance their experience.
Internship positions are unpaid, however, may be utilized for course credit or completion.
The needs of the department, in conjunction with the student’s school schedule and flexibility will determine to number of hours an intern may work per week. There will be three internship periods throughout the year, specifically during the fall, spring and summer. Each period will last approximately four months.
Prospective interns must complete the required application, submit two letters of recommendation (no relatives), along with resume and a cover letter indicating specific department(s) of interest.
