“In times when government appears to be divisive, bipartisanship perceived as a sign of weakness and compromise condemned as a dirty word; Delaware political leaders come together and work to ensure our communities remain a great place to live, work and play.
Quarterly, I convene a meeting with the entire State delegation including Governor Jack Markell, Congressman John Carney, Senator Chris Coons and Senator Tom Carper, where we discuss important issues such as: fighting crime and improving public safety, building economic development, providing jobs to our residents and bringing more resources to our communities.
This is what makes Delaware unique.
Collectively, we are able to come to the table, roll up our sleeves and work together to tackle challenging issues.
As mayor, I recognize this is rare. In other cities, mayors are not able to reach out to their State and Federal representatives and work collaboratively, as a team. In Delaware, we are able to come together at every level of government. This collaboration and team work is what will allow the City of Wilmington and all of Delaware to thrive.”
