The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that starting on Monday, November 18, daytime lane restrictions will occur on Route 2/South Union Street from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The pavement and replacement project will consist of the removal and replacement of the concrete roadway on Route 2/South Union Street from the railroad bridge, just east of Route 100 in Elsmere to Sycamore Street in Wilmington. A-Del Construction Company, Inc., is the contractor for this $2.8 million project.
The estimated project completion date is mid-December 2014, pending weather. Access to all businesses and residences within the project limits will be maintained throughout the duration of this contract.
Message boards will be posted and flaggers will assist with traffic control. Later in the construction phase of this project, traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic. The contractor may also work on Fridays and Saturdays, if needed.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and expect delays.
