The City of Wilmington’s Department of Public Works deployed six new traffic enforcement vehicles designed with features to improve parking enforcement related issues for citizens in the City, as well as parking enforcement officers.
The new features include: a 12” LED light bar, ‘traffic enforcement officer’ identification labeled on the trunk lid and car doors, specialized license plates on the front of the vehicle, and reflective tape along the bumper of the vehicle.
“The new traffic enforcement vehicles will provide the citizens with a heightened sense of awareness of parking enforcement officers, and hopefully encourage them to obey the parking rules,” said Mayor Dennis P. Williams.
The new vehicles should improve the parking enforcement process, as citizens will have greater awareness of parking enforcement officers within the vicinity and also offer other benefits such as:
- Increased visibility
- Should encourage compliance with the City’s parking regulations
- Promote traffic and pedestrian safety
